Profreework — An Automated Funnel for an International Online School

Built an automated sales funnel with 220% ROMI and grew a subscriber base of 2,460 in one month

Profreework — An Automated Funnel for an International Online School
For Profreework, a school of internet professions, we built an automated funnel with two tracks: subscriber-base growth without webinars (chatbots, six landing pages by segment, storytelling email sequences) and a selling five-day masterclass. In one month — 2,460 subscribers at $0.4–0.5 each, 36% subscription conversion, 220% ROMI: the money invested in ads paid back three times over.

About the project

Profreework is a Spain-based international school of internet professions. The audience is beginners who want to move into remote work. The main problems were low audience trust and high competition.

We built two automated-funnel tracks for the school: a selling masterclass with 220% ROMI, and a subscriber-base system that works without webinars or live streams. Below are both parts, with the mechanics, screenshots and numbers.

Result: 2,460 subscribers in one month at $0.4–0.5 each, 36% subscription conversion, 220% ROMI — the money invested in ads paid back three times over.

Part 1. Automated sales funnel: the "Be Your Own Freelancer" masterclass

Gathering and warming up an audience for the masterclass of the Spain-based international school of internet professions. Selling training programs with 220% ROMI.

The task was to sell a subscription giving access to all of the school's courses. The audience: beginners who want to move into remote work.

Video walkthrough: how to launch an automated funnel from scratch and recoup traffic spend three times over

Step-by-step

1

An engaging sales funnel with game-like elements. The tool: chatbots.

Result: Chatbots
2

Multi-landing pages that change their content depending on the user's query.

Result: 35% conversion
3

Search campaigns in Yandex Direct and Google AdWords.

Result: $0.4–0.5/subscriber
4

A five-day masterclass, ongoing engagement with the audience in a shared chat, and supporting chatbot broadcasts.

Result: 10% conversion

1. Chatbots

We rolled out chatbots across all popular messengers. The core of the work wasn't the technical side but the algorithm built into the bot broadcasts.

To build series that genuinely warmed up the audience, we ran several rounds of testing and surveys.

Tip

Only a genuine understanding of the audience's pain and speaking to them in their own language guarantees success.

2. Packaging

Standard approach here: we unpack the meanings, prioritize them, and illustrate each one with facts, evidence, and stories.

The technical side is also fairly interesting. We built a whole series of multi-landing pages with headline swapping, using Google Tag Manager and Google Optimizer. All the tools involved are free.

Result

Thanks to multi-landing pages and messengers, we achieved an average subscription conversion of 35%.

3. Traffic

We decided to run traffic from search and got a solid result. Search campaigns on broad queries like "how to start earning online" gave us a good flow of cheap traffic.

The average subscriber cost came out to $0.4–0.5, with the potential for 100–150 sign-ups a day.

4. Masterclass

The masterclass name wasn't, in our view, the most sales-driven — "Be Your Own Freelancer" — but that was the client's request, and we worked with what we had.

The scheme: the first lesson as a webinar, then 5 lessons on the platform, then a closing webinar. To be upfront — this scheme was excessive; three days would have been plenty.

Conversion to the first webinar came out to 25%. Half as many showed up to the last one. But the conversion to sale among first-webinar attendees was strong — 10%. So overall the scheme worked.

Result

Result: an automated sales tunnel was built, converting cold traffic into buyers. 220% ROMI — the money invested in ads pays back three times over.

Part 2. Building the subscriber base

Building a subscriber base for the Spain-based international school of internet professions.

The task: test interest in learning different internet specialties, build an automated funnel for growing a subscriber base. The funnel had to be built without using webinars or live streams.

How we did it

1

Built ad campaigns in Yandex Direct and G. AdWords.

Result: Segments by profession
2

Built a dedicated landing page for each audience segment offering a subscription in exchange for a useful resource.

Result: 6 landing pages
3

Chatbots across all popular messengers and email. Wrote email sequences in storytelling format.

Result: Bots + email
4

Packaged the sale of the first product as a time-limited offer.

Result: One-Time Offer
5

Connected end-to-end analytics and built dashboards for convenient tracking of metrics.

Result: Dashboards

Ad campaigns

We built search ad campaigns in Yandex and AdWords. Connected the Elama service for bid management. Campaigns were segmented by profession: marketer, web designer, copywriter, SMM specialist, and so on.

Mailing-list subscription

We built a dedicated landing page with a unique design for each audience segment — six landing pages in total. Each one offered a useful resource, relevant to that audience segment, in exchange for a subscription.

Chatbots and email mailing

We connected all popular messengers to the subscription pages so users could subscribe in one click through their preferred messenger. Set up email subscription and mailing. Wrote a warm-up email series in storytelling format. No templates — everything was written and designed for the task. Everyone loves stories; everyone's already tired of formal warm-up emails. We also set up a message series in the chatbots.

Important

The most important thing is to keep users from marking emails as spam once the mass mailing starts. All postmaster registrations need to be done in advance. For anyone who doesn't know — that's the dashboard for tracking your mailing status. The most convenient one, surprisingly, is mail.ru's.

10 value / 1 price

This is the OTO (One-Time Offer) formula — a one-time offer the client receives on entering the funnel. A 90% discount, valid for 12 hours, and the offer is never repeated. We packaged exactly this kind of offer at the funnel entry point: the "Be Your Own Freelancer" course — learn to earn ~$75 a day without leaving home.

Analytics system

We connected Google Tag Manager — a service that lets you manage analytics quickly without a developer. Yandex Metrica and Google Analytics were connected through GTM.

Headlines swapped depending on the user's query. We tagged the entire site with events and goals to track user behavior. Each page ended up with six goals (bots + email).

Optimizer — for running A/B tests and headline tests. All key parameters were surfaced on a dashboard using Data Studio.

An automated sales tunnel was built. The system is fully manageable: it can be deployed or scaled to new company products at any time. Key metrics were captured for every audience segment.

Funnels like this are part of our marketing automation service: a combination of audience segmentation from lead generation, content tailored to each segment, and end-to-end analytics. We wrote up the testing and audience surveys that the warm-up series were built on in the guide «How to Run a Custdev».
